Wilt Stop makes the difference in how newly planted evergreens hold their color through the winter months.
Finke Gardens has found that timely application of Wilt Stop in late fall before freezing temperatures set in, can make a big difference in the amount of browning that occurs on hollies, boxwood azaleas and rhododendrons. Pines, firs, junipers & spruces planted this season, especially those planted in the fall, could also be sprayed. It's generally not necessary to spray established trees as their root systems are developed and more tolerant of the fluctuating conditions that lead to the burning damage.
Finke Gardens staff are also available to help with Wilt Stop application.
Please call the store at (402) 466-1995 to make arrangements for timely applications.
Wilt Stop is an anti-transpirant that protects against drying out when evergreen roots were frozen in wintertime, depriving plants of their normal moisture intake. Anti-transpirants were found to be effective on cut Christmas trees, wreaths, and greens to retard needle drop by keeping existing moisture in the foliage.
